Hi, I'm Beth

I am a warm, natural, storytelling Winchester family photographer. I live in Alresford with my husband and 2 beautiful little boys. After 11 years, I decided to leave my corporate career in order to pursue something more creative, people focused and flexible. I love working with families to capture their family, as they are. Full personalities, little details and all the smiles.

At home newborn session in Winchester, warm, baby led a timeless

Newborn Photographer Winchester

Those first few weeks with your new baby pass in a bit of a blur. My relaxed newborn photography sessions in Winchester are all about capturing this fleeting stage just as it is — tiny details, sleepy cuddles, new connections and your family settling into life together.

My newborn sessions are natural and baby-led, with no complicated posing or expectation for your baby to sleep throughout. Instead, we take our time, follow your baby's lead and create a collection of beautiful, timeless photographs that feel like you.

When is the best time to have a newborn photoshoot?

There really isn't one perfect time to photograph your new baby.

If you love those tiny, curled-up newborn details, I recommend arranging your session for within the first few weeks after birth. At this stage, babies are still wonderfully small and often spend lots of time curled up against you.

But there is absolutely no deadline. Babies don't suddenly stop being newborn-photo-worthy after two weeks! A slightly later session can be just as beautiful, with more alert moments, eye contact and the beginnings of their little personality appearing.

For that reason, I usually recommend booking your newborn photoshoot while you're still pregnant. We can reserve a space around your due date and then confirm the actual session once your baby has arrived.

And if your baby is already here and you haven't booked anything? Please still get in touch.

Where will my Winchester newborn photoshoot take place?

For newborn sessions, I love photographing families at home.

There is something particularly special about capturing your baby in the place where your family life is beginning. Your bedroom, the nursery, the sofa you've spent hours cuddling on — these familiar spaces become part of your family's story.

It also means there's no need to pack everything up and get a newborn out of the house for a particular time. I come to you, and we can take everything at your baby's pace.

You don't need a Pinterest-perfect home, either. Good natural light and a small area to work in are far more important. I'll look around when I arrive and find the spaces and light that will work best.

I travel to homes throughout Winchester and the surrounding Hampshire villages for newborn photography sessions.

What should we wear for a newborn photoshoot?

Keep it simple.

For newborn sessions, I love soft, neutral and earthy tones — think white, cream, beige, soft brown, muted green and gentle blues. Rather than everyone wearing exactly the same colour, choose tones that complement one another. This creates the relaxed, cohesive look you see throughout my photographs.

Texture also photographs beautifully. Linen, cotton, soft knitwear, ribbed fabrics and cardigans can add interest without distracting from the people in the photograph. I'd avoid large logos and very bold patterns, which can draw attention away from you and your baby.

What should baby wear?

Newborn babies really don't need anything complicated.

A simple white bodysuit can look absolutely beautiful, as can a neutral knitted romper, ribbed sleepsuit or soft dungarees. Your outfit doesn't need to be elaborate — your baby is the focus.

Your guide actually communicates this really nicely on page 4 with the white bodysuit, cream knitwear, ribbed pieces and neutral dungarees.     Outfit Guide - Beth Moore Photo…

We can also photograph some of those lovely newborn details without an outfit getting in the way — tiny toes, wrinkly legs, little fingers wrapped around yours.

What if we have older children?

They're very much part of the session.

My newborn photography is family-led as much as it is baby-led, so if your new arrival has a big brother or sister, we'll include them without expecting them to sit perfectly beside the baby and smile at the camera.

We can cuddle on the bed, read stories, play, explore the nursery and give older siblings breaks whenever they need them.

Some of my favourite photographs aren't the perfectly arranged ones at all — they're the little glances, cuddles, curiosity and chaos that show what becoming a bigger family actually felt like.

Relaxed newborn photography in Winchester

You don't need your baby to sleep.

You don't need your house to be immaculate.

And you definitely don't need everyone to behave perfectly.

My newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed, giving you space to feed, change, cuddle and settle your baby whenever you need to. The aim isn't to manufacture a perfect moment. It's to capture the beautiful little moments already happening between you.

If you're expecting a baby in Winchester or the surrounding Hampshire area, I'd love to hear from you.
