Winchester Maternity Photographer
Natural, warm and timeless maternity photoshoots across Winchester and Hampshire. Capturing life just before it changes again.

Hi, I'm Beth
Welcome to my bit of the internet! I'm a warm, natural, storytelling Hampshire family photographer. I live in Alresford with my husband and 2 beautiful little boys. After 11 years, I decided to leave my corporate career in order to pursue something more creative, people focused and flexible (it was a bit scary, but am living my best life!).
I love working with families to capture their family, as they are. Full personalities, little details and all the smiles.
Relaxed, natural maternity photography in Winchester
Pregnancy can somehow feel incredibly long and incredibly fleeting at the same time.
While you're busy preparing for your baby's arrival, it's easy to forget that this chapter deserves to be remembered too.
My maternity photography sessions are relaxed, natural and designed to feel *like you*. No elaborate posing or expectation to suddenly become comfortable in front of a camera — just gentle direction, beautiful light and photographs that capture you, your bump and the anticipation of what's to come.
Whether you'd like your session to be just you, with your partner, or with your whole family, we'll create something that feels personal rather than overly styled.
When is the best time for a maternity photoshoot?
As a general guide, I recommend having your maternity photographs taken at around 30–36 weeks.
At this point your bump is beautifully defined, but hopefully you're still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session.
That doesn't mean there's a strict cut-off.
I've recently photographed a maternity session in Kings Worthy, Winchester at around 37/38 weeks, so if you're further along and suddenly realise you'd love photographs, don't assume you've left it too late.
Every pregnancy is different, so we'll plan your session around you and how you're feeling.
Where should we have our Winchester maternity photoshoot?
This is where we can make the session really personal.
At home
An at-home maternity session can be beautifully intimate and understated.
Think bare feet, jeans and a white shirt, sitting on the bed, quiet photographs in the nursery or cuddles with your partner and children.
Home sessions are particularly lovely if you want something private and relaxed, or if the thought of having maternity photographs taken somewhere public doesn't appeal to you.
And, just like my newborn sessions, your home doesn't need to look like it belongs in a magazine. Beautiful natural window light and a couple of simple spaces are often all we need.
Outdoors around Winchester
If you'd prefer something outdoors, the countryside surrounding Winchester gives us plenty of beautiful options.
Open fields, long grass and woodland can all work beautifully for maternity photography, particularly later in the day when the light becomes softer.
If you're open to further afield, the beach is also stunning of maternity photos, walking bear food in the water.
Do I have to have maternity photographs on my own?
Absolutely not.
Your maternity photoshoot can be just you, you and your partner, or your whole family.
If this isn't your first baby, I particularly love involving older children.
Rather than asking them to carefully pose beside your bump, we'll approach it in the same relaxed, child-led way as my family photography sessions. They can cuddle you, play, explore and be themselves.
It means your photographs aren't simply documenting your pregnancy — they're capturing your family just before it changes again.
And equally, if you'd love this session to be something that's completely about you, that's wonderful too.
What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?
You are very much not alone (I do too!).
You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. That's my job.
I'll gently guide you throughout the session, but I won't put you into lots of stiff or unnatural poses.
We'll use movement, interaction and simple prompts to create photographs that feel relaxed. Sometimes that's as straightforward as walking through a field, looking down at your bump, adjusting your shirt or cuddling your child.
Should I book maternity and newborn photography together?
You absolutely can, but you do not need to!
Having both sessions creates a lovely record of the transition from waiting for your baby to those first weeks with them at home.
Your maternity session captures your bump, your relationship as a couple or family and that feeling of anticipation.
Then, once your baby arrives, your newborn session becomes the next chapter — tiny fingers, sleepy cuddles, siblings meeting their new baby and your family finding its new rhythm.
The two galleries can sit beautifully alongside one another.
