Glowing on the beach...
There is something very special about west wittering beach, I spend a lot of time here with my boys at the weekends and holidays. Wide open sands, gentle waves, chips! It's an amazing location for capturing natural family photographs, especially at golden hour when the sun is low, the light has a warm glow and it also tends to be quiet too! Practically- the car park is amble (albeit pricey), there are toilets available and beach is stunning.
Recently I had the joy of capturing a beautiful family of 4, nearly 5, for a maternity/ family session combo- dreamy!
Family Photos meets maternity shoot.
We met around 6pm (about 1.5 hours before sunset), as soon as we got to the beach shoes were off and the boys (dad too) were running around, laughing and having fun.
Rather than focusing on stiff poses, we embraced everything, running barefoot in the sand, splashing in the shallow water. We stopped to collect shells, admired their discoveries and enjoyed watching the children be children. It was honestly such fun.
Between the freedom of running around I gently directed some poses which naturally led to some beautiful candid shots with genuine smiles and laughter.
The family sat in the grasses with the golden hour sun on their faces, cuddled up whilst each boy told their best joke with varying degrees of success!
I made sure to capture all the little details that are so fleeting but so important, little hands holding shells, mums beautiful bump, cuddles, tickling and lots of laughter.
After all the running, splashing and treasure finding the family headed off in the search of fish and chips, doesn't that sound like the perfect family evening.
The photos have turned out amazingly, Sophie and her family are so pleased, which is all I can ask for.
I can't wait to meet the new baby.
