What better way to spend a Friday morning?
There’s something particularly lovely about photographing an autumn event — the rich colours, beautiful natural textures and that cosy feeling that comes with the changing seasons.
In the immortal words of Richard Gilmore, “I am an autumn.” IYKYK.
I recently photographed this gorgeous autumn wreath-making workshop at The Tichborne Arms, near Winchester, hosted by WildBunch Florists from Alresford. It was the perfect setting for a morning of seasonal flowers, creativity and relaxed event photography in the Hampshire countryside.
The florists arrived with everything needed to create the most gorgeous seasonal wreaths, with tables filled with an abundance of autumn foliage and natural materials. They talked everyone through the process step by step, showing us how to build, arrange and finish our wreaths while still giving everyone the freedom to create something completely unique, everyones turned out completely differently, they were fab!
It was such a relaxed and creative event, with everyone chatting, having some lovely coffee, choosing their favourite foliage and gradually watching their wreaths come together. By the end of the workshop, everyone had created their own beautiful autumn wreath to take home.
WildBunch also created a gorgeous wreath especially for the front door of The Tichborne Arms, which looked perfectly at home against the character and charm of the pub (see pic!).
Events like this are such a joy to photograph. Rather than simply capturing the finished wreaths, I love documenting all the little details that tell the story of the day — hands busy creating, tables covered in foliage, conversations between guests and all those natural, in-between moments. These are great for future marketing for the florist.
